Working from home - anxiety
I've been working from home for the past two weeks and it's taken this long for my lack of cable management of 4 external hard drives, mouse, keyboard, speakers, flash drive, portable hard drive, router, and modem for me to call it quits and start looking for some method to arrange these cables so my cat isn't always sleeping on them, stepping on them, throwing up on them, and potentially damaging the USB connections to my laptop which they also like to sleep on.
I'm in research mode.
In other news, I think my USB hub is dying because one of my portable hard drives began getting I/O errors and when I plugged the drive in all the other drives would disconnect. I've had this hub for about 2-3 years. The best reviewed USB powered hub I found had potential except for the on/off buttons next to the ports. As long as I have cats stepping all over my desk, I don't think I can afford to have easy to press buttons for their paws to hit.
I ended up purchasing the "Anker USB 3.0 SuperSpeed 10-Port Hub" instead of "ACSIS 10 port usb hub"
I think normally I'm able to ignore the mess because I'm at work 40 hours a week and the cats wouldn't be allowed in the computer room without supervision, however Grey began meowing at night to be let in the computer room so she can sit on the external hard drives and my husband was tired of waking up every night, so we allowed her in the room. She soon after puked all over my stuff (see previous post if you want more details).
For the last week I've had this low grade anxiety, mostly due to hard drive issues and I wasn't able to do the stuff I normally do to relax. Then I had to researching purchasing a new hub and the more I looked at the hubs the more I noticed my desk and floor cables are a mess. I think this weekend I'll stop by Office Max and see what types of stuff they have for desk organization. Maybe I need to clear everything off my desk and start over with a blank slate. :)
