Back from Wincon
Other people are making con reports, all I really wanted to say is I'm back, my trip went well, I had a blast, and I meet so many nice people and had a great time visiting. My throat still hurts from talking so much.
maygra is a wonderful wonderful person. She had some anti-nausea medicine that really helped me out Thursday and Friday night. (I wasn't sick sick just started a different generic birth control pill and well it made my stomach feel VERY unsettled) So yeah, I can't imagine enjoying those first two nights without having the medicine. I was ready to go back to my room Thursday night to watch SPN alone just in case I had to throw up it was that bad. So I may have been more quiet than normal. But everyone was great. That was the only real negative experience I had and that's a good thing.
I loved the vid show on Friday night and the karoke was fun. :) There were a few vids I had not seen so it was a lovely surprise. I think I got to meet all my favorite authors and let them know how much I appreciate their stories, though I think I missed
clex_monkie89.
lierdumoa I saw briefly and I didn't have internet access and basically kept missing her or something, I think next time I'll have to kidnap her or something. :( overall I think I met everyone I wanted to and had some time to have a conversation though I don't think I really got the chance to talk with
destina the way I was hoping but it was busy and there were a lot of people. And I meet a lot of women I hadn't really talked to online before but they were so interesting and funny and I'm like how did I not know these people before?
I think there were a lot of room parties and well I should have written down room numbers but mostly I spent the con hanging out with
aerynvala,
robin_serrano,
delibby, and
sylvia_bond. It was really great to be able to talk and watch vids together.
I was happy that I got to meet
varkelton, and go out to dinner with her and her friends on Saturday night.
I also got the chance to talk with
morgandawn. Everyone had told me how nice and wonderful she is but normally we'd always pass each other and say hi but never really got the chance to have a conversation with her and so I was very happy I got the chance to have a conversation with her at this convention. She really is a wonderful person and I loved talking about vids with her and I thought it was a fun conversation. I feel more inspired to vid now. :)
I felt kind of bad that the saturday afternoon vid show had run into troubles and it didn't even occur to me that someone needed to be there to watch the equipement (i had volunteered to help set up the projector/sound and after that got set up I went with my friends to keep them company and to help set up the roadhouse for opening at 3pm.) So yeah, next time I'm at a con and I volunteer to help with the audio/visual stuff I'll make sure someone is going to be there to watch the equipment during the show before leaving. I'm taking this as a live and learn experience.
On the trip home a fellow fan (okay I'm completely horrible! I forgot her LJ name and I can't remember her real name, but we talked anime for about an hour while waiting for my flight because we were both in the Southwest terminal and her flight left an hour after mine) But in case she's reading this and she should know who she is because really how many anime fans watch SPN and Doctor Who and read comics as well??? (um just realized that could be a lot) But ANYWAYS I had a blast and a wonderful time hanging out with you and I'm glad I got the opportunity to meet, even if it was at the end of the con.
Okay basically, I had a blast. I liked everyone I met and I got to spend time with my friends and hopefully made some new friends too. Conventions are weird, while I'm there it seems like we have all the time in the world but it's not until Sunday that I start realizing that it went by too fast.
