Things that are driving me nuts today

Okay it's actually just one thing driving me nuts today.

My husband and I own a revolver and the last time I saw the gun it was with our rifle in the master bedroom closet. After we returned home from visiting my parents in Texas I decided to go and get the revolver out and see how much ammo I have so I could go to the rifle range and practice shooting my revolver. Great plan, except, the gun isn't where I last remember seeing it. :(

Today I searched all over my house, in every single dresser drawer, I took everything out of the closet, and looked on top of every bookcase and under the couches. None of the regular places I would hide a gun are hiding my gun. At this point I really want to know where the hell my gun is. Our house isn't that big and I hate the idea of dropping the search until we someday move to another house, at which point I'm sure the gun will turn up as all missing items tend to do during a move.

I'm 99% sure that my husband didn't move it because he's not a big fan of guns or rifles and I wouldn't put the gun in a location I could not reach so it's a real mystery as to where it went. I don't think it was stolen because the rifle is worth a lot more money than the revolver and the rifle hasn't moved. I'm going nuts just thinking about it.

I searched for over an hour with no luck so I think I'm going to check my flist and take a break from the search for now.

In other news, I got a job that starts on Monday. I'm very excited about it because it's a Librarian I cataloging position for the Department of Fish and Game.

Less awesome: missing guns. I grew up in a gun house, too, and it does make one...careful.

On the gun front, the good news is the gun is unloaded and we have no children in our house. But I'm still troubled by it's loss.

Oooh, that sounds like an awesome and fun job. Congrats!

As for the gun, I don't think I'd be able to stop looking until I found it. A handgun is much easier to conceal so much easier for someone to just stick in their pocket and walk out of your home with. It could have been taken by a repair person or visitor, etc. so for me waiting for it to turn up wouldn't be an option. I hope your husband just locked it up and forgot to tell you or something. That is a bit of my concern for the missing gun. I hate the idea of it being stolen though I'm 99.9% sure that is not the case because we haven't had anyone in our house in a long time that isn't someone we trust completely.

Hmm. A gun's not the sort of thing you want to misplace. Maybe it's one of the places you already checked, but missed it while you were frustrated? I used to do that a lot.

Not that your cats would be any threat with a gun, even if loaded. The one's too sweet, the other too chubby/laid-back. If they've hidden it, they haven't hidden it well.

I fear my ex-feral if he got a gun. One: he'd figure out how to use it. Two: I know exactly which cat he'd use it on.

Hope you find the gun. I'd be a head case until I did. If it's not misplaced, then someone took it and that's a major issue.

Eeep. If you haven't already, ask your husband and find that sucker.

I don't own a gun and doubt I ever will. They scare me. But if I lived up in the far north, that might change.

Whoa, has it been four months? Time flies - still, I was unemployed for two years, so four months is relatively fast to me. Either way, yay!

The four months went by fast! I was one time unemployed for a year and it was tough going back to work after having all that free time. It still is I sort of miss sleeping 9-10 hours a day and having time to do what I want. But I like the idea of having my own money and not relying on my husband to support us. I know for sure I'm looking forward to retirement.

I'll try! Right now it feels like the first two weeks are going to be all training to learn their system. Cataloging documents isn't exactly what most people would call exciting but the other half of my new job is to design a new website / find a content management system for them to use to showcase all these documents they have. It sounds like a interesting challenging putting this all together in just under a year.

Hm. I'm picturing this gun hiding out behind a dryer with 5 single socks that have disappeared, the last of the baking soda, and a hat to a sporting event you've never gone to.

I don't think we stuck it in the car because I'd get worried about it freezing if I had done that. :)

No ranges for us either. I'm 99% sure it'll turn up eventually. :)

The one advantage of living in an area where secured gun cabinets are required by law is that you always know where the guns are, I guess. Hope your revolver turns up, that would stress me out a lot.

You know that is a very good point. I do feel like kicking myself for not planning better in terms of where to store our weapons.
