Well not much has changed since yesterday. I'm still studying and I took my dog, Padin, walking. for a 9 year old dog she walks fast. I'm hoping if I take her walking enough she'll stop barking in the house. So far it seems to be working. When I get back with her she goes straight for her water bowl, plops down in front of it, drinks for a while before going elsewhere to lay down and sleep, or rest. I never thought I'd like big dogs before, normally they scare me but the longer I'm around Padin the more I like her. Maybe it's because she's an old dog and sort of cute. Alaskan Malamute I think that's the right breed.
Okay my rant for today, and please don't expect logic or coherency, I jump around a lot.
I was watching the news a few days ago and the big issue appears to be Gay Marriage in Mass. Well the news program I watched talked about how the catholic bishops in Mass signed some sort of petition or protest against the state legislature's ruling on this case. personally, I'm not any religion anymore. I may have been raised Catholic but I haven't stepped foot in a church in over two years and I no longer believe a god really exists, he's right up there with Santa Claus.
So why the hell is our government so influenced by religious people?? I don't get what do people have against gay people getting married? it doesn't hurt anyone, and if it's not against their religion then what's the problem? As a person who no longer believes in god I don't want these conservative religious people having a hand in any government policy making. I thought the United States was about the separation of church and state and that's what made us "special" Oh and we are supposed to be free. What a joke.
What disturbs me the most is that they want to add to the United States Constitution an Amendment that would effectively ban gay marriage or civil unions as we know them now. My countrymen in the past and present spent all this time and effort to get rid of discrimination as much as possible, and now they want to add an Amendment that would legalize even more discrimination.
I'm actually probably going to have to write to my congressman/woman and let them know I support gay marriages just so they know not everyone in the state of texas is anti-gay marriage. Truthfully I never gave this topic much thought since I never planned on getting married and if I ever did it would be with a guy. But just hearing they want to ban marriage from a group of people really pissed me off.
Hell if I want to marry another woman I should be able to. It does not seem right anymore to say America is the best country in the world when other countries have less discrimination and more freedom for it's people. Hell Holland seems like the place to immigrate to. They can smoke pot and if you are gay you can still get married.
What this boils down to is that I'm scared of my government and all the religious groups that have clout in washington. After banning gay marriages where will they go next???
P.S. My mom thinks the United States is the best country on the planet earth, I've had doubts for a couple of years now.
