This isn't going to be a shock to the few friends I talk with frequently in real life but I've been watching a lot of cartoon TV lately. (Like avatar the last airbender, Justice League, Young Justice, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and My Little Ponies)

I don't know why I'm surprised when I discover an actor (from a TV show/Movie) I like is a voice actor for a character in another show I like? I just realized Bruce Greenwood is Captain Pike in the Star Trek Reboot and he's Batman in Young Justice and Under the Red Hood. It makes sense that they hire real actors for the voices for the characters because if they don't have good voice actors the characters will fall flat.

I was also impressed with the voice actors/actresses for Avatar the Last Airbender and had no clue that Aang and Sokka had teenage voice actors. I also had no clue that the Fire Lord was voice acted by Mark Hamil.

On another topic, I'm not sure if I should be concerned that I'm currently more fannishly involved in cartoons than I am live action TV. I think the last time I felt like this I was deeply into Anime and in love with Fushigi Yuugi and Escaflowne.

So I've started watching Avatar this week and I'm already done with seasons 1 and 2 and I'm completely in love with this show and the characters. Now I want to know where is the fic and does anyone have any recommendations???? I'm game for any pairings slash or het, and I'll read Gen. I just want to know what's good? :)

please no spoilers for season 3....

We're are on episode 35 or 36 of Hikaru No Go and it's really a lot of fun watching with my husband. :) I really can't remember who wins what matches anymore!

I'll probably see everyone again when we have finished watching all 76 episodes.

I just spent my whole day 1030am until 9pm watching all 26 episode of the TV series The Vision of Escaflowne with [livejournal.com profile] wyrdfae. I had a lot of fun re-watching this show it's been years and I knew kind of what was going to happen but had forgotten in what order. I ate WAY too much food and got 2 free pizzas!!!! I ordered and well two hours later they hadn't arrived so I called and they admited they fucked up so we got free pizza. :) um but by then we were pretty hungry and ate more chips and dip.

All in all, I had a lot of fun and then I got online and found more stories to read. :)

I just realized something about VM last night before I fell asleep. This show really reminds me of an anime series called Hana Yori Dango, in a good way and without all the violins in the background.

I loved the anime Hana Yori Dango, I mean once I found out it's about a lower class girl that gets a scholarship (based on her test scores) to a prestigious school where only the super wealthy go I was intrigued. the story was a lot of fun and kind of sad at the same time because the girl gets hazed when she makes enemies out of the four most popular boys in the school, but then one of those boys ends up falling in love with her and she's in love with another guy and about 52 episodes later, she realizes she loves the boy that also loves her even though he was a real bastard when they first met.

Anyway, now I'm going to try watching the anime again too...

I think the reason I love both these shows is because it has two brothers who care about each other on a quest to find answers. It doesn't hurt that the stories have interesting characters, plot, and some decent writing. :) Okay and the guys are hot. well Alphonse in FMA is a suit of armor so not so hot, but I loved him anyway, such a sweet guy. :) I'll be honest I find anime characters hot. :)

Lately I've found myself a little bit obsessed with Supernatural [livejournal.com profile] maygra wrote the stories False Comforts and it's sequel Welcome to Memphis and I've reread both more times than I care to admit. I've tried finding other Supernatural fics and some are pretty good but none on the same level as Maygra's. I hate when I find myself at an author's journal/website hitting refresh hoping a new story will pop up. I can't get the stories off my mind but in a good way.I'm going to have to get over this obsession, maybe try writing my own Supernatural stories or work on the nano novel (running out of days).

Last week I spent about four days downloading Fullmetal Alchemist vids, I only found two that I thought were good, well three but I'm kind of tired of hearing My Immortal.

This month I've kind of been obsessed with downloading AMVs and I think that's affecting my live action vidding projects. After watching some of these vids I feel overwhelmed and awed by the vidder's technial prowess. It's going to take me a little bit to process the coolness of the vids and get past my own shortcomings and insecurities before I vid again.

In the meantime, here are the music vids. Normally I'd just post links to animemusicvideo.org but this time I decided to upload them to megaupload as well(because it's faster and easier to download and saves animemusicvideo.org bandwidth.)

Always Hardcore Anime Music Video.Org website (if you want to send feedback to the vidder...you can stop by here....

Always Hardcore Megaupload download

Another favorite of mine.....

Zetsubou soshite Ketsui AMV.ORG link Hoobastank - Crawling in the Dark

Megaupload download for crawling in the dark

Now this is a random vid rec...yesterday someone made a vid for SGA titled "If You Were Gay" I didn't enjoy the vid as much as I probably should have because earlier I had found a vid to the same song but for Gravitation and I thought the Gravitation vid was better.

Here is the megaupload link to the anime version....If You Were Gay

For some reason today i've been obsessed with finding Dual Audio dvd quality anime. It started with Fullmetal Alchemist (been kind of think it might be fun to try and make an anime music video) and now it's branched off into X, Escaflowne, Berserk, and etc....Of course I still need to figure out how to convert the mkv files into AVI so my video editing program can video edit the file. Lots of fun.

edit: realized I had a few more vids to recs...

I found the best music video ever for the anime series Gravitation.

Now for the non-anime fans on my list, Gravitation is one of the all time most popular slash aka yaoi TV series that probably ever came out of Japan. It's about a teenager rock singer that falls in love with a novelist, who is also a guy and rather famous in certain circles. Most anime yaoi's kind of suck (no pun intended) because there's no story, or real character development, let alone any action (sex or kissing).

But in Gravitation there is a good mix of romance, comedy, drama, and the guys actually kiss and are shown in bed together. It's funniest moments are matched by some very dark events. Basically, the story is about the teenager trying to get his band Bad Luck into the music charts...I can't think of another anime with slash that comes close to Gravitation in being this good.

I could go on for longer about why this show is so great but I actually planned to rec a vid for the show.

Yesterday I downloaded a lot of Gravitation vids and these stood out from the rest, in the terms of song choice, video effects, and telling a story.

Forgive and Regret (it has a lot of effects and is very fast paced)

Killer in Me Dark, but with fewer special effects.

If You Were Gay lighthearted and hilarious vid. Has some nice lip synching too.

Which Backstreet Boy is Gay I thought this was rather funny and it suits the anime. :)

Please remember to leave feedback if you liked the vid. :)

I'm currently searching for Fullmetal Alchemist yaoi. I'm really loving this series. Now that my husband is home for a few days we've been watching a marathon of FMA. I haven't actively searched for yaoi in possibly a year or two, so I have no clue where to start looking. All my anime bookmarks are for Gundam Wing and Weiss Kreuz. (hope I spelled that right)

If anyone on my friend's list has recs for FMA stories, please send them my way. :) I'd greatly appreciate it.

I just realized last night when I was talking with one of my friends on IM that I'm an anime snob. In the sense that I refuse to watch dubbed anime, feel sorry for the unfortunate people who can only watch anime dubbed, and though I know there are people out there that have watched more anime than me, I feel that the list is very small. Not sure what that says about my character that I think I know what the best animes are and don't quite understand how Dragonball Z is way more popular than the Vision of Escaflowne or Berserk....but anyway I'm not sure snobbish about anime is a really really lame or not. Because anime for some reason has become a bit more mainstream. I'm amazed at the amount that is now available via cartoon network.

But anyway, subtitled anime is superior to dubs, nothing on earth is going to make me change my mind on that one, and the soundtracks for anime are really better in their original format. Anyone here, heard the english version of the opening theme to Magic Knights Rayearth??? Ouch.

So for the people who aren't giving Full Metal Alchemist a fair shot as a show because they've only seen the dubbed version, go to torrentspy and download the subtitled version. Same with Trigun, Cowboy Bebop, and every other anime on cartoon network.

I pick Full Metal Alchemist because I'm currently watching the show and I can't watch the next episode until my husband gets back from the Gulf Coast...sure I could watch without him but not sure if I want to watch the episodes twice so soon. Anyway, love the Elric brothers and the story so far.

okay need to search for some anime soundtrack music for a friend. :)

edited: WTF is with adultswim? I heard they showed the Escflowne movie, why the hell aren't they showing the series instead???

I finally finished watching all 76 episodes of Hikaru no Go. I took a year off from watching the series with only ten episodes left and I'd forgotten how slashy this series is. :) I love this show so much and it's kind of bad because I like all the dramatic music and the face shots, and really I shouldn't love it as much but I do. It reminds me of the anime Hana Yori Dango, I loved the violin it just made so funny but I couldn't stop watching that show either.

Anyway, I'm glad I finished the series and they didn't drag it out like they did with Inu Yasha and some other good shows.
