I'm ambivalent about this movie and I need to write down my thoughts so I can move on. Be warned, this post may be a squee killer.

Thoughts behind the cut )

I just saw "10 Things I Hate About You" again. The last time I saw it was back when it had just come out in the theaters. I will say the movie was as funny as I remembered it being and the dad was awesome. :)

It was so weird seeing how young everyone was back then! It was a bit sad to see Heath Ledger in this role and remembering that he was gone.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt (Arthur from Inception) was in this movie as well and I did not know that before I started watching! He was cute and I loved the character he played. :) He was remarkably hot in Inception, so I'd say the last ten years have been good for him.

Kick-Ass

Just got back from the movie, it was so much fun! Can't recommend it enough. :)

Stargate SG-1/Supernatural

Corner of Your Eye by maychorian (Gen) I really loved the casefic and the character voices. This was a lot of fun to read. :)

Stargate Atlantis

Snakeheads: A Love Story by taste_is_sweet (Sheppard/McKay) INSTANT REC!!! I loved the concept, the character voices, and I could not stop reading until I reached the end. :)

Merlin

With Flaming Sword by tetsubinatu (Merlin/Arthur) I love stories where Arthur finds out about Merlin's magic. :)

Supernatural
One Point Five, Tops by longsufferingly (Jared/Jensen) This was incredibly sweet and perfect. :)

Stick Together by maskedfangirl (Gen) This was funny! and I loved Castiel's pov and really I felt bad for the sells representative.

When the Stranger Comes Along by lotrabc (Sam/Dean) This story hit my buttons.

Vids

Hurt by ash48 (vid:recs:spn) INSTANT REC!!! This blew me away, I loved the pacing, the clip choices, and how the vid comes together at the heart wrenching ending.

In other news, I saw Pandorum on Sunday and I had a blast. It was scary, I loved the concepts, and I can't stress just how creepy this movie was. I actually had a nightmare about it which was awesome! Not many movies in the sci-fi/horror genre are actually that good. This was one of the better movies in terms of production values, acting, plot, and concept. I appreciate it when it looks like the movie creators put some effort into the story and visual effects.

I'm also slowly but surely catching up on Smallville, someone on my flist had said season 9 is better and they were right! I've been really enjoying season 8 and so far I'm hooked on the story they set up for season 9 it also helps that I really love the Justice League stuff aka Oliver Queen, Lois Lane, Choloe, the new really really hot guy (played by Brian Austin Green formally of Sarah Conner Chronicles and 90210) and I love Tess. Um I guess Clark is okay but I realized I'm pretty much watching the show for the women and special effects. If someone had asked me four years ago if I could ever love Smallville I would probably have laughed and said no way in hell...not sure what changed since then but I think the story lines are more interesting.

Here's the link Hopefully it works but it's basically the apple trailer site trailer 3. I love the song (and if anyone wants a copy email me and I'll get it to you tomorrow night) this is actually like a music video and I loved watching this knowing what really happened in the movie.

I also realized that the story for Star Trek is kind of simple in a way and I'm thinking uncomplicated is probably best for movies because you don't really have a lot of time to get into all the details.
amalthia: (Angel Illyria)
Stargate Atlantis

Trick of the Light by [personal profile] bluflamingo (O'Neill/Sheppard/Jackson) This was kind of weird and disturbing but intense and I couldn't stop reading once I started.

Supernatural

I Carry the Suitcase of My Grief in Both Hands, Ma by withdiamonds (Sam/Dean) I liked the character voices and I felt pretty bad for Sam. :(

Gegenschein by leonidasden (Sam/Dean) This was sweet.

Terminator Salvation

No Fate by hollycomb (Wright/Kyle) This was hot and I loved the character voices.

Star Trek

Five Times James T. Kirk Didn't Get Married (And One Time He Did) by raphaela667 I liked each of the stories. :)

In other news, Rottentomatoes is saying Transformers Revenge of the Fallen sucks (okay I think it's at 22%...)

I already have tickets for tomorrow night so I'll just have to wait and see. I tend to like Michael Bay movies (Armageddon being one of my favorite and Pearl Harbor)

But it's starting to look like out of the four movies I most anticipated this summer Star Trek is going to be the best of them. Terminator Salvation while entertaining did not entice me back into the theaters, X-Men drove me away after I saw the leaked version, and Transformers isn't really hitting it off with the critics. I've seen Star Trek twice already because I really enjoyed the movie.

Here are the rottentomatoes ratings

Star Trek 95%
Terminator Salvation 33%
Transformers 23%
X-Men Wolverine 37%

Guys! this makes no fucking sense! these movies had the money, the talent! and except for Star Trek they all kind of bombed rating wise. JJ Abrams if I remember correctly mostly directed tv right??? I don't get why the other directors who I assume have had some previous experience directing a movie could not make a good movie? Who wrote the scripts and approved them? I really wanted these movies to be awesome and kick ass (like Star Trek did) and instead they produced crap. I'm still holding out hope that I'll enjoy Transformers hell I'd probably go see it if it had a 8% rating. I think Underworld 2 had a 12% and we still went and saw that. I LOVE action movies it's just sad that the ones that should be good (talent and money not being an issue) turn out bad.

Thankfully, other movies (Up, Hangover) have come along that made up for an otherwise crappy quality of summer movies.

Um I also have the sniffles. okay that's it's for now. :)

DO NOT see this movie. IT sucked!!!!!
amalthia: (Default)
I got a copy off the net and watched and guys it sucked so badly. And it wasn't just because some of the special effects weren't finished. Maybe there was more that needed to be added in...but really not sure if it woudl be enough to make a coherent story. This movie was basically just showcasing mutant powers and moved from one fight scene to the next. I'm glad I didn't pay money to see this one. :(

Okay was I the only one that saw this episode and then wondered where are all the post season 7 non-con/slave fics?

I've been kind of meh about Smallville for about 5 -6 years now and all of a sudden I really want to read fan fiction based on what happened this episode and I'm actually REALLY looking forward to what happens next episode. (I can guess they are going to fix everything in one episode but still I love the feeling of potential) I'm thinking the writer strike helped Smallville a lot. The last four episodes of season 7 were rather captivating in a way I don't recall this show being in a long time. (plus I didn't feel like pulling out my hair over the stupid stuff the characters are doing and saying)

In other news, I re-watched the Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe, went swimming, and saw 1 episode of Due South.

I really needed a break away from computer. I checked email earlier this afternoon and my neck/shoulders were screaming in pain in less than 20 minutes. So I can only use computer in short bursts on weekends. :( I hate that because it's really hard to write or vid when you're in pain and I'm trying really hard to not feel guilty for not using all my time writing/vidding/working on archive. I'm not sure why I feel like I have to be doing something all the time but it's just a feeling. I shouldn't feel guilty for spending an evening watching tv/movies, playing with kitty cats and crocheting. Though one of my friends said I should be guilty for watching 4 hours of Smallville....okay she has me there.

I'm thinking I over did things last week with using the computer after work, I knew better...and now I feel like I've had a setback and it's going to take another week or two of intense computer avoidance at home just so I can use my computer on weekends again.

Luckily, I'm still crocheting my blanket and I have all of season 4 of Lost to watch as well as finishing Due South season 4, I'm about 3 or 4 episodes away from ending.

So this was my first day with my husband being off shore. I did get laundry/vacuming, and grocery shopping done, but it feels weird with him not being here. Hopefully, he'll be back by Thursday or Friday. I worry a bit more with him going off shore vs going to Corpus Christi for work, especially after he told me about all the explosions/helicopter crashes, and how quickly things can go pear shaped out there.

Well it's 1am and I'm going to bed. If anyone has post season 7 Smallville recs for me...Please don't hesitate to share! Keep in mind I'm asking for it.

I have over 1000 stories on my PRS-505 and well it's starting to slow down some. :( So I've been trying to figure out which stories need to go and it's VERY HARD to decide. I already removed some of the 1800 english literature stuff and I'm debating on removing the Shakesphere plays...but I kind of like having them on my book reader, I never know when I'll want to re-read Twelfth Night?

In other news, I saw Prince Caspian on Friday night and I really enjoyed the movie. I won't recommend it unconditionally because part of my enjoyment was due to the cute actors and how slashy the movie read to me. :)

I loved BSG and Doctor Who this week. Felt kind of meh about the season finale of SPN. (my husband hated the episode and said it was crap) Me I'm more forgiving because I love Sam and Dean (though truly they need to find better insults the skank/slut/whore stuff is getting old fast)

Supernatural

A Handful of Lies by minx999 (Gen) I liked this.

Let the Eleventh Hour Pass Me By by thenyxie (Sam/Dean) This was hot and I loved the emotions and the ending worked for me.

FIC: A Lack of Real Spice (In Your Life) by memphis86 (Sam/Dean) This was funny and hot.

Tonight, I just saw Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle I fell over laughing. This was a lot of fun and really just what I needed. This is by no means politically correct but it was funny and so very wrong many times. I also really felt like getting a burger after this movie.

Supernatural

I Built This Thing For You by toxica939 (Dean/OFC Sam/Dean) I liked the character voices and the sex was hot. This was also a bit sad in a way.

now there'll never be an intermission by fleshflutter (Sam/Ben) This story was short but gave me shivers. Wonderful imagery.

Okay I'm a lot behind in the stories I wanted to read but I was pretty busy getting the Ebook Fan Fiction Archive up and going this last week. I also went and saw Iron Man on Friday night and had a wonderful time. In fact, it's been ages when a movie I was looking forward to seeing didn't dissapoint me.

I just got back and wow what a good movie. :) I liked the plot, the acting, and the special effects. Going to try reading up on anyone else's episode reactions.

meant to post these with the movie rec...

Can’t Point the Way to Your Heart by [livejournal.com profile] belyste (Jared/Jensen) I liked the plot and the how everything works out in the end. :)

Just rewatched Practical Magic and had a blast. Technically we were supposed to be camping but my husband got a migraine headache so we decided to stop at motel and take it easy for the night. Now about Practical Magic did anyone else really love the relationship between the sisters? and saw some parallels with Supernatural???? Just saying, I was already thinking of stories where Sam and Dean are witches/warlocks? whatever the male term for a witch is. :) Not sure those will ever be written because hey this is me but I still have stories in my imagination. :)
