Date: 2005-03-24 10:33 am (UTC)I think what bugs me the most about short chapters is that the authors hardly ever consolidate the chapters into 1 file; downloading 61 (just an example) files is time consuming. It would be nice to have the option of downloading the entire story at one go. So far the story is interesting, I haven't checked it in a few days though.

Date: 2005-03-24 10:42 am (UTC)If everyone did that...I think i'd have to cry. lol I'm just glad that only a select few authors and not many are very good, decide to do this to the readers.
I feel like some authors do it to manipulate the readers and encourage more feedback, but maybe I'm paranoid.

Date: 2005-03-24 11:27 am (UTC)I stopped reading A Bittersweet Potions series too. Although, I did stop for different reasons. I just didn't like the story all that much... Call me crazy but it did not do anything for me.

Date: 2005-03-24 11:33 am (UTC)In some cases it's kind of fun to wait for the next part in a series. I don't know if you ever read X-Files, but one fic author wrote this series called Dark Angel's Fire and each part was rather long, but I really looked forward to each part because each part was a story of it's own. but what gets me is when you feel like you've read just a small part of a bigger chapter...it kind of cuts the flow of the story for me.
aspen being the exception. So far each chapter seems to be moving the story forward...but some of them I think could be combined.
I just can't believe how much feedback she's getting, I still don't feel like there is a full story here to respond to, just bits and pieces. though I guess when it's finished it should be interesting. :)

Date: 2005-03-24 01:03 pm (UTC)As for reading other fanfiction, honestly I wouldn't know where to begin. I only started reading Harry Potter back in the summer of '03 and I am still in the fanfiction 'closet'. LOL. So, to answer your answer no I haven't read any of Dark Angel's Fire. Although I do love the X-Files. That was one of my favorite series back in the day. Until the last two seasons... I didn't like the direction they took the series at that point and time.
I do agree when you say it feels like some of the chapters could be combined. I just hate the fact that in one of the chapters she writes that she is gonna try to not make them as long because people had said something to her and I am sitting at my computer wondering what moron would say that. I love reading long chapters. It in fact makes my day to see a nice long chapter. Mais telle est la vie, non ?
I think a lot of the feedback has to do with the fact the AYLNO was such a huge hit. And that story seems to have garnered quite the following. That is how I originally even found out about her Snarry story. I am not saying it doesn't deserve the reviews and feedback but just that AYLNO does have a large part in Cambiare Podentes' success. Of course I also think if Podentes was written first it would have helped launch AYLNO. So I guess I can just chalk it up to Aspen being a good author. ;)
