Fan get togethers

I put off asking this for a long time with the hope that I'd get a job rather soon after moving to Houston, and possibly meet fellow Stargate/Firefly fans at work. Well it hasn't quite happened yet.

But does anyone on this list know anyone else from Houston, Texas, or if there are any fan get togethers? I don't have cable tv and downloading is working but I really miss that sense of watching my favorite TV shows with friends and I haven't really met anyone new since I've moved to Houston.

If anyone knows of any fellow fans that wouldn't mind meeting another fan. I'd love to make their acquaintance
