Apartment woes

I got this 6 dollar electric bill on our door for the first two days when we were moving into the apartment...billing date ended May 1 and we started moving in on the 29...I'm not sure if this is legal or not because I never signed up for this energy company and personally i think the apartment is responible for the energy payment on those last two days.

OH! and then to top it all off they want a money order...that isn't going to happen.

so now I need to find out how to get out of paying the 6 dollars without them penalizing me. I already switched our engery over to Direct Energy but now I'm thinking they are going to hit us with another charge for the 4 days when I was unpacking instead of setting up our new energy provider.

I'm now looking for our lease...it probably got lost in the move because I can't find it in our important paperwork box. :(
