I had a blast with these two episodes. And now I just have one more season 13 more episodes to watch before I can start reading the fan fiction. :)

I really needed an episode like this after work.

First just to keep things clear my co-worker arrived about 5 minutes before my shift ended but it was still 10 minutes too early to call a second time to the tech support guy for one of our monitors that was showing output feed problems. I let him know the situation and that he needed to call the tech guy at 8:05. I found out my co-worker had never had to call the tech guy before so I decided to stick around a few more minutes in case he needed help when he called. So 8:05 comes around and he hasn't picked up the phone and the yellow light is blinking and this output feed has been down for over 60 minutes by now. I ask him to please call the tech guy and nothing happens, I wait another 5 minutes and ask again saying I have to get going home and he needs to call soon because we were now over the 20 minute mark for when we were supposed to call back. I have all my stuff ready to go and I ask again. He says I should call instead, even though my shift was over and it was now his job. (at this point I should have known he wasn't going to do anything no matter what I said) I calmly told him again that the output feeds going down is very important and that we need to stick to the call protcal sheet and that he needed to call because he'd never done it before and calling while I was there seemed like a really good idea and a perfect setup for practice. End of the story, he absolutely refused to call the tech guy told me I should call my boss and left the room. (I ended up calling tech guy myself and my boss)

In retrospect, I'm now thinking after he ignored my second request to call I should have just called myself and let it go. I'm so used to my co-worker during the day, she's always on the ball and we work together to get everything done. And I sure as hell don't ask her to call tech support when she's 5 minutes away from leaving for the day or just as her shift is ending. It's just when we started this job my co-worker who I'll call R and I learned how to do a lot of this stuff together and we were able to contact our boss since we were there during the day. But nightshift new guy he's there pretty much on his own so if he has questions he has to either ask me or R. And then when he doesn't cooperate I have no clue what to do. Technically, this guy has the same job as R and myself but we've been doing this job for 2 years now and he's only been at it for a few months. I guess for me I just can't imagine not doing what I'm asked by someone with more rank than me, espeically since it was a perfectly reasonable request and the guy's JOB!

Next time, I'm not going to depend on this guy to do anything. I feel awful tonight and even though I'm rather sure I'm in the right I still feel bad about the whole situation. Like it's my fault this guy totally ignored my polite requests to do his job. I was actually in a rather good mood today because our boss let us know we could finally stop monitoring and logging some stuff that I really hated doing. So I don't think I was coming into this situation in a bad mood so that couldn't have been it.

I'm coming to the conclusion that I couldn't convince a man dying of thirst to drink perfectly safe water.
