I suck at packing in an emergency. I only have 3 shirts/3 pair of underwear, two pair of pants, and 1 pair of socks and my favorite bathing suit. I didn't think the power would go out for so long in Houston so I only packed enough for the weekend and according to the news the power may be out a week! (not looking forward to seeing the inside of my fridge when we return)
I also forgot, cat scratch post and popper scooper. I only have 4 days of food for the babes. But I did bring at least 2 weeks worth of kitty litter.
My mom does have a washer/dryer but I'm thinking if we stay here any longer I'm going to have to buy a few more clothes.
I heard from my next door neighbors, my fence is completely gone, my garage has suffered some damage, and it's possible I may have leaks in the roof. Her's was really fucked up and the rain is getting into her house (not good) However, she was able to tell me for my house the windows are intact and according to my husband because we closed all the doors in the house that may have helped keep our roof from getting much damage (that and we are on end of block...) I'm holding onto that faint hope that we still have a roof and my stuff isn't getting rained on.
I hate being so far away from where stuff is happening but I now know that we really didn't have enough water or food to last 5 days of no water/electricty/gas.
My mom's been a good sport about us showing up completely out of the blue and my husband has been frolicking in the pool..me I'm having a hard time relaxing or enjoying myself. I'm thinking I may just set up my computer instead of borrowing my mom's to check email.
I think i'm going to go hug my cats some more and try to remind myself of what's really important in my life.
