I'm searching for airplane seat cushions.

I was hoping someone on my friend's list has tried a few cushions or has a favorite they'd recommend for long haul air travel? Like 12 hours and more air travel?

Living in Alaska long flights are the norm but I think I have to accept I'm growing older and traveling is painful.

I'd appreciate any and all advice! Sadly getting out of the plane and swimming the rest of the way won't work....

We have a Purple Pillow for driving - I really like it. I think we have the double seat cushion. The only downside is it's relatively heavy, so you have to consider if you want to carry it through the airport, but I expect that would be an issue with all good seat cushions. https://purple.com/seat-cushions

We bought these a decade ago for hard seats (my partner goes to various sports games, which sometimes offer nothing more than benches, so not comfortable!) They've held up very well and have a washable cover. Definitely increases comfort levels.

Yes, you can fold it, but that would make it very thick. I can easily fit it in a tote bag though so I wouldn't think it would be an issue?

My approach was to purchase a lot of different inflatable cushions in Amazon, test them before leaving, and returning the ones I didn't like.

There's one large one I have which is my favorite, but I can't seem to find a listing for. This is the closest equivalent:
https://www.amazon.com/Travel-Inflatable-Original-Drawstring-Packing/dp/B07XFC9X68/
That one isn't specifically designed for an airplane seat though, so definitely could use some testing at home.

I also take some thinner, regular cushions, tie them together with a string, and slip them through the telescoping handle of the bag to make them easier to carry. I shove them inside a tote bag or zip then up inside a jacket to get through security, because they can get stuck in various parts of the belt and making the outside smooth stops that problem. If they try to count it at as extra item when boarding, I explain I'm sitting on them so they won't take up space in the bins.

I bought this Teton Sports camping seat cushion based on a recommendation (can't remember who recommended it, though):

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009L1MXE0

I like that it's very compact when deflated and comes with its own storage bag. Quick to inflate and deflate. It's not very thick, and I haven't used it for really long periods of time. But recently I was stuck in a train station for 3 hours sitting on a hard wooden bench, and it made a big difference in my comfort.
