found Oreo

amalthiaOkay great news for any who know about my lost kitten. I brought him home to my mom's house about 7 months ago, before I went to Europe for 2 months. And well on the first night at my mom's house he ran away. I was devasted. I searched for 3 days, cried myself to sleep for a week, and finally got on the plane thinking he was lost for good.
well out of the blue, I saw him again. Yesterday, I thought it was just another stray so I petted him. but it sort of bugged me because I noticed the cat was male and had patches like Oreo. So today while I was out walking when I saw him again, I petted him and convinced him to follow me home. I stuck him back in the cat carrier, that's been gathering dust in the garage, and damned if the cat didn't sound like Oreo crying to get out again. So I went inside dug up all my cat pictures of oreo and started to match the coloration. And then got my mom to come outside and she confirmed that yep we finally found Oreo again.
7 months ago I would have been so relieved to see him again, but now I had grown used to not having a cat anymore and I'm not sure what to feel anymore. I missed him, mourned my loss, and moved on.
And now he's wild and he looks healthy. So I fed him some food, let him out the cat carrier cage. My mom carried him to the back porch where I fed him some more food and gave him fresh water, and he stayed for a while and took off.
Tomorrow, i'll add more food to the bowl and see if he returns. I'd feel bad for keeping him caged now.

Date: 2004-05-18 01:30 pm (UTC)See it always bothered me that I had to take Oreo in to the Vets to get shots. So I always felt like he would associate pain with me taking him new places. :(
oh well I think it was a good sign that he followed me home. :) Do cats hate when you grab them by the scruff of their necks to carry them?
