VHS to DVD

amalthiaGuys I'm at the point where I'm ready to save my VHS anime fan subs to dvd and I have the video editing software, dvd burner, but I'm not sure what I need to get the VHS/DVD player hooked up to my computer?
Does anyone have advice or went through this process? I think I have a video card that allows s-video input? Because we're able to hook our projector up to our computers but I'm not sure if I need anything more? I guess i really do need to get home and see what kind of hookups my dvd/vhs player has. (it's one of those combo units)
I didn't want to take my tapes to a store and let someone else do it because well I have a lot of anime fansubs.
I'd appreciate any and all advice.
