Corel WordPerfect X4

I'm testing out the publish to html in trial download version. So far it's doing a great job of creating plain html for the document. There is this one line of weird code but replace all took care of it. Plus this program is new and up-to-date so it should work on Windows 7.

I've been having issues with MS Word 97 in that it would not apply italics correctly to each paragraph and etc...And the other issue is that not everyone has it so for converting fanfics to ebooks MS Word 97 is about 10 years too old to be much use.

So I'm cautiously optimistic for WordPerfect. I'm just amazed I had to hear about from Jane Fancher of all people.

In other news, I'm sick. :( My nose is icky, I'm breathing through my mouth, and feel all around god awful. And I have a midterm I still need to take online.

I've been meaning to get the newest version of OpenOffice & start experimenting with that. ('Cos it doesn't matter how well WordPerfect works; I'm not gonna be able to afford it.)

I'd work with Word97, except I've got no idea how to install multiple versions of Word on a single computer, and I'm not giving up the later features.

What I do to get both versions of word on the same computer is install Word 97 first, (I only ever install the word portion making sure to have the HTML option selected.) Then I have to go into the registry and change two file names so it actually works. (this is in XP) After that, I install the new Word into a separate folder and I choose not to upgrade so it leaves the older version of Word alone.

Yeah, I'm not too happy with the idea of paying money for a Word program either. I'm going to have to try open office and see how that converts HTML. I think I experimented at one point but it also added a lot of unnecessary tags. I'd love to hear how open office goes when you try it? :)

I don't suppose I can pester you for a beta of an SPN/SGA crossover (that's mostly SPN)? I have an offer from a beta who does a lot of line edits that I ignore and I always feel guilty about it.
