Android tablet how to make the most of it?

amalthiaI'm hoping my flist has more experience with android tablets than myself because for my birthday coming up later this month my husband got me an Asus Transformer Prime tablet (ATP). :)
I haven't done much beyond adding some comics, music, and vids to my device. I haven't used any of the apps that came with the device and not sure what to download or use.
Does anyone use any of the sync software? If so does it work okay?
Ideally, I'd like to be able to access my computer from the tablet without having to transfer files over to my device to use them.
I'd appreciate any and all advice as to what to do with the tablet so I don't waste the entire weekend installing apps I won't need or suck.
