I'm, for the first time in years, tempted to write fic. Why? Because I haven't found a groundhog day story where Anakin Skywalker re-lives the day he loses his limbs, health, and wife over and over again until he picks the right path. You know the one where he doesn't murder a bunch of children... I just don't know if this should be gen/slash, but I love the idea of Anakin getting to know all the Jedi in the temple a little better each day and makes friends with random people he meets when he tries to drown his depression in alcohol because the day keeps repeating and even if he doesn't end up in lava, the Jedi are still killed and he can't figure out a way to save Padmé, or his new Jedi friends. The story ends when Anakin realizes the only way to break free is to let Padmé go, or some other mature grown up thing...

EDIT: Just realized Obi-Wan should be involved in this story too...

Sounds interesting, but I don't think it'd take him long. Once he has a moment to think, I think he'd get to "don't murder children" pretty quickly. Also he'd talk to Padmé, unfortunately Obi-Wan is quite far away but he'd still try to call, etc.

I think the story could be told in 20k words...or less. I can already imagine Obi-Wan's expression when Anakin calls panicking because he's relived the same day a couple of times and they all end horribly.

I sadly didn't write the story! Though after re-reading the idea again I'm tempted. :)
