confused about something

I've been looking at myspace sites mostly because my sister got one and a few of my real life friends and I just don't get why people use it? I've yet to see an easy to navigate myspace homepage. I mean I've seen some bad designs in LJ but not in the same amount as these myspace websites.

Is anyone else using myspace and LJ? I'm trying to find out info to see if I'd want to create an account but it seems like fandom is kind of on LJ or mailing lists. Not sure if it'll be able to move over to myspace or if anyone would want to. Maybe I like LJ because it's more text based?

MySpace is mostly a place for ppl not into fandom (ie, those who have "lives", lmao) to show off and hookup. And surprisingly, there is a bunch of roleplayers there too, similar to LJ's rp stuff. I'm not either of those, I only had an MS page becuz I knew some ppl on there too, but yea, it's mostly weirdness. I prefer LJ anyday becuz, here, it's ALL about fandom or whatever, plus its easy to read all your friended LJs and fave comms, etc. I mean, at least on LJ you can actually read stuff that moves you (whether its squeeful or intellectual or both). The only thing to do on MySpace is add ppl, check your inbox, comment on your friends profiles and pics, post/read meaningless bulletins of chainmail and spam... thats it. I mean, sure they have groups and even a blog section for your profile, but c'mon, LoL. But overall, it would be good to have a acct all just in case you ever want old friends to find you- I inadvertantly found someone I'd known from 4th grade to 8th but we hadnt kept in touch- how ironic is that :D It seems MS is growing more popular everyday, LoL! Just dont get addicted to it... hehehe.

the place looked kind of boring to me too, and hard to navigate. I guess with LJ since most of the posts are fandom related it's great and I don't mind the posts about my favorite writers/vidders/artists/and etc... about their lives. Even when they stop doing fannish stuff I don't de-friend because I'm still interested in the person that is creative and did create something I enjoyed.

My space looks like of limiting in some ways and it's hard finding example sites without getting tons of spam.

I find ppl in LJ much more non-judgemental. Also willing to assist you, when you need assistance on "how to" do domehting in LJ. I do have a myspae but, I never go there, just too much hassle to navigate.

I kind of thought the same thing too when I first started getting emails from friends and family for myspace....just didn't know what LJ user's experiences with it were like. Thanks so much for replying back. it helps.

The other thing I forgot to mention about myspace. its just seems to be a place to "hook up" w/ppl as in naughty stuff. Now I luv the naughty as much as anyone, it just seems "dirty" & not in a good way.
