It's hitting me that I'm falling back into my default habit of only reading fics that are either NC-17 or by authors I already know. grrr This is generally okay, except I like trying out new authors and finding stories to rec that people may not have found otherwise. and I don't like the idea of limiting myself to NC-17 because I have found some really good Gen and PG-13 types of stories.

However, I have this Firefox browser open and there are about 16 tabs sitting there with stories waiting for me to read them and I gotta go to bed in a few minutes. This weekend I plan to attend Apollocon (well attend on Saturday anyway) and I just don't see how I'm going to be able to catch up on weekends if I'm busy.

When I wasn't working I had more time to keep up with all the stories...but now not so much. But hopefully I'll still find good stories to read and recommend.

I'm having that problem too. I don't read as many new-to-me authors as I used to, and I'm skipping most of the shorter stories unless it's someone I have a good history of liking in the past. The people that are dicy for me -- I really liked a story or two of theirs, but I also really disliked one or two -- I'm skipping those as well.

I hate it when work cuts into my fannish life.

I've been keeping to the authors I know as well, especially for SGA, which I'm kind of out of right now. For X-Men I'll pretty much read anything, because there's just not that much, but with my larger fandoms that have like twenty stories a day, I'm a little more selective.

I think it's something we all fall back on every once and awhile. Once season three starts up, I'll probably be going on a mad SGA hunt, and start reading everything I can get my hands on.

I'm in and out of SPN fandom at the moment, but I'm completely absorbed with X-Men, I admit. Hee. If you want some recs, I've kind of been on a reading binge ever since X3 came out.

Here's some recs. I probably shouldn't be doing this so late, so if any of the links don't work, just drop me a line and I'll fix it. ;-)

Project Mayhem: part one (http://the-aa.livejournal.com/283.html), part two (http://the-aa.livejournal.com/753.html), part three (http://the-aa.livejournal.com/3206.html), part four (http://the-aa.livejournal.com/9419.html), part five (http://the-aa.livejournal.com/4570.html).

Love and Lust at Mutant High (http://seperis.illuminatedtext.com/mutantindex.html).

Fundamental Difference of Experience Series (http://www.kuria.onomatopoetry.com/fdoe.html).

And this one is Gen, but it's not as well known so there's a better chance you haven't read it, and it's really good. The first in the series is a little slower than the others, and the last one is my favorite, but they're all well written.

Never Sound in Slavery (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1339792/1/), Heaven's Edge (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1346266/1/), 14783 (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1354014/1/), sic transit Gloria mundis (http://www.fanfiction.net/s/1372991/1/).

This one is supposed to be six parts, but it looks like she stopped at three. It still works really well, though, and I like where it leaves off.

The Explanation Arc: Make Me (http://verde-speaks.livejournal.com/12134.html), Answers (http://verde-speaks.livejournal.com/12543.html), Hero (http://verde-speaks.livejournal.com/12780.html).

Untitled: part one (http://urbain-fic.livejournal.com/1234.html), part two (http://urbain-fic.livejournal.com/1282.html).

Folly and Redemption: part one (http://urbain-fic.livejournal.com/2139.html), part two (http://urbain-fic.livejournal.com/2363.html).

First up, let me tell you how much I appreciate your recs. Like me, you read in a number of fandoms, and, like me, you like the darker material. So I have learned, over the years, to trust your recs.

I have trouble keeping up with everything, and I don't work. So I am amazed at the reccing you manage to do, what with both a job and a husband. *g*

Keep it up, but don't knock yourself over doing it! And enjoy the con.
