Long but fun day
Oct. 29th, 2006 11:45 pmOkay this weekend went by very fast but all in all had a good time.
Yesterday, had a few guests over played Risk with their 9 year old brat (really that's the nicest thing I can say about him) but anyway it's really not his fault that his parents dragged him along with nothing to keep him occupied.
today, went to the Renaissance Festival, in costume, met with my friend
wyrdfae and walked around a bit saw a few shows together. It was great seeing her there. It was a really lovely day outside and my husband and I had a blast and basically were exhausted and tired out by the time we left the park. Next time I'm going to have to rethink my what I wear on my feet, high heeled boots were obviously a very bad idea, though they did keep any mud from getting on my dress. So anyway, I had a great time, got to dress up in this beautiful dress my grandmother made for me and I finally got to try the turkey legs (actually they were really good) and had a wonderful time watching all the other people and seeing the different costumes.
I pretty much spent the rest of the evening recovering aka reading fan fiction and watching a few music videos, crocheting a hat for my grandmother (which I think is coming along nicely and now I need to find a scarf/shawl pattern I can actually read and understand), and then saw the third episode of Torchwood. (I'm really really enjoying this show and I can't really explain why because sometimes it's hard to understand what the characters are saying and one of the guys is a sleaze ball...but it has Captain Jack and he's hot and interesting and I'm really beginning to like the other main character. I like that the characters look like people you'd meet on the street and the show seems very grounded in reality. Yet weird stuff happens. Basically, I'm hooked.
I think crocheting has taken over my life to some extent probably because I'm new to it and Christmas is coming soon and I planned on making some things for people I love because really it's much easier to go to a store and buy a scarf and hat than it is to make one. but while I started this out as an attempt to save myself the pain of going to the store looking for a gift...I find that I'm really starting to enjoy crocheting.
I feel more relaxed and calmer crocheting stuff and I like that there is a pattern to follow and if you follow it you'll get something nice and pretty at the end. I'm hoping when I get better I'll be able to create my own patterns but for now until I learn the basics I'm still on the search for an easy scarf pattern.
I'm trying to wrap things up in October because I signed up for NaNoWriMo and I'm going to feel like the biggest loser ever if I don't get at least 20k words written.
