It looks like that interview I had last Monday panned out. :) I got a job offer on Wednesday and Thursday I turned in the background security form, took the drug test, and I'm supposed to start Monday morning 8am. This looks like a real nice place to work and the pay is about what I made at my previous job and the benefits are actually really good. Also, it only took me 10 minutes to drive to work, though I'll probably add another 5 for rush hour traffic.

But mostly, I'm optimistic because during the interview I got a lot of good vibes off both women interviewing and since it looks like I'll be working with both of them I'm not as scared to start because so far they seem friendly, fair, and I didn't overplay my skills. I tried to be honest but sound competent at the same time.

Nevertheless, it's a new job so I'm going to be on edge for the first year. Also, I'm not sure what I'll be doing besides copying stuff (which is actually probably a good thing that I'll have a task that takes me away from the computer)

I also finally got my final project turned in for grad school this semester so now I just need to contact my adviser and ask what classes I can take without taking the other two intro classes (can't afford the airfare to fly down to Houston for the 3 day institute for the last two introductory classes) So I hoped to take another course instead until the Fall semester when I should have more money saved up for school.

My husband went out and celebrated tonight, we went to the Outback Steakhouse and I got a mixed drink and the blooming onion starter. And then we came home and watched Stargate Atlantis and now I'm checking emails.

Tomorrow is the weekend so I'll probably try and call everyone. (I'm saving the weekends for contacting my family since my phone's night and weekend minutes don't start until 9pm, in Texas that wasn't a problem but at 9pm my time it's 12pm central.) So for the real long conversations I try to save those for the weekend. Which is one of the biggest reasons I've cut back on calling friends and family. :(

Though, I guess now this means I can finally start calling my friends on the west coast since they are only one hour ahead of Alaska time.

Adjusting to Alaska? I hope your new job gets better. Give it at least four months before you pass judgment. That's when the new wears off, for good or bad, and you can really assess your days. If it's making it hard to concentrate on your life when you're outside of work, and keeps intruding, you can start laying plans to move on, because by then you should be starting to feel like you know what you're doing, if not earlier.

If you get to go see Marian Call play in her home town, I promise to be jealous!
