It's only 12:45pm and I'm already stressed out and exhusted. For those that don't know, my husband and I drove to San Antonio last night from houston, to pick up my older brother to bring him back to houston to hang out at my place for a few weeks.

Things kind of started off on the wrong foot when my husband got a speeding ticket on I-10 for going 82 miles per hour...but we're like okay okay, that sucks. Moving on. So we get to my mom's house around 1am, don't get in bed until 2am, can't sleep until 3am.

So then around 9am all the kids wake up including the baby. (a little bit of backstory) My cousin, her 3 children, and my other cousin's wife showed up last weekend with her infant. Originally, last week when my husband and I planned our mini-5 day vacation it was just going to be me, husband, my brother, and mom. Then all of a sudden we found out at the last minute that a whole bunch of extra people were going to be there. After the first morning with crying baby we decided to head back to houston 2 days earlier than planned. (unfortunately, my mom would not let us take older brother because he had to stay behind to take care of the dogs, wtfever, she just didn't want to lose her Cinderella)

Anyways, back to this morning 9am wake up call. Between the baby crying, we start hearing my mom yelling (sound carries way to well in this half million dollar home which should totally knock off at least 50k from asking price if they ever decide to sell)

The lowdown is this, my mom lost her 5k wedding ring sometime between last night and this morning so she was tearing the house apart trying to find, while at the same time packing for her trip to Europe (for Army Reserves) and she lost her checkbooks. So me, I'm kind of getting upset because first, when I go on trips I pack the day before so if anything unexpected happens I have time to deal with it, secondly how the hell do you lose a 5k dollar wedding ring? I never even take mine off, and if I did they go right into my jewelry box. At this point, I'm convinced my mom needs to take all her expensive crap to a bank and put it all in a safety deposit box or sell it before she loses it.

But I've lost stuff so I'm a bit sympathetic it's just she also has these people working on the tile in her bathroom, so she's not sure if she lost it or someone stole it and I'm beginning to wonder WTF she was thinking to leave a 5k ring sitting right on the bathroom countertop in front of people who don't speak a word of English and probably make less than 8 dollars an hour???? hmmmm

I sure as hell don't leave my valuable stuff out in plain sight when people I don't know and trust are coming over to my house.

Then from the airport, she calls and asks if I could make a police report for her! At this point I feel like tearing out my hair, I've been up since 10 had to deal with brat kids, look all over the place for checkbooks, rings, and help my brother move lawn chairs off the grass. I just wanted to sleep another 2 hours, go swimming, relax a bit, and visit my grandma on the way home.

Another thing that bothers me is why the hell she has people coming to work on her house when she knew I was coming to pick my brother up today! and she had guests herself, plus had to get packed and ready to leave for europe for 3 weeks.

My husband is telling me to let it go, it's not my problem, and I shouldn't care, but I can't help but worry about this stuff because my dad bought my mom that ring and this is the second one she lost that was actually worth money! My mom sounded awful about it on the phone too. :( Just got off the phone with dad, he's dissapointed and a bit upset because he'd been telling mom for years not to leave her expensive jewelry out where anyone can see it. I think talking to dad helped. So yeah it sucks but considering I'm just glad my dad is still alive and well in Iraq I realized maybe I'm worrying more than necessary because ultimately it's just a ring with a pretty rock in it. (okay actually I thought the ring was quite ugly and gaudy...but my mom likes that kind of jewelry.)

So this rant has taken me over 30 minutes to finish due to interruptions to print out new insurance (our insurance cards were expired in our cars by 10 days), phone call from dad, and getting a drink of water and some cherries.

I think it's time for me to go swimming in my parents pool. (which is actually nice since they have this salt water stuff instead of regular chlorine)
