Okay I just read the sequel to in the Nick of Time, Growing Pains is on the inkstained fingers archive. I'm beginning to think i'm just too damn picky when it comes to fan fic because while I could read the story I just couldn't get into it as much as other stories I've run across...I think the story was just too happy for me.

oh well I'll manage. I'm crossing my fingers and hoping Empress of Eclipse finishes the third part to Reptile. :)

Ne, just found and read your Spellbound series and was quite blown away by it. There are a lot of stories on the net where Draco is, over a summer, beaten and raped and generally fucked over. Your's has perhaps the best actual response to it that I've seen: he's confused, surly, doesn't know who to trust, doesn't know what to feel. He comes on to Snape because it's been driven into him that Sex = Comfort, he's typically Draco in so many ways that his shattering is less a dramatic glass thrown full force against a wall and far more like the cracking of thin ice - layers and layers of slender tiny lines appearing that break so suddenly that you almost can't tell when it will happen.

I'm somewhat disapointed in Snape for having given in during the most recent chapter. Draco is obviously in need, he's obviously hurting, both over what happened to him the summer previous and over Cassandra's defection, but he's still a child under Severus' protection. I'd almost have liked a bit more to Severus' side; having been raped by Lucius, it's almost a wonder that Severus would be attracted to Draco unless he himself was experiencing some of the PTSD issues that Draco is, that Stalkholm's Syndrome affection towards one's captor.

Regardless, I love that Draco reads threats into what is really just a implicit warnings, I adore the slowly growing relationship between him and Ron and really, really adore that Harry is being somewhat of a bastard about it all. Stories like these that don't end up with Harry's true love being able to save everything are rare and I appreciate that you've not done so here. This isn't to say that I wouldn't mind Harry getting off his high horse for a bit and being friendlier. I wouldn't even mind the addition of H/D given that you've a great base to start it off from. As much as I love the R-D friendship, I'd almost prefer it to stay that way. Draco needs very much to have a relationship with someone -anyone- that is in no way sexual and remains utterly open, someone to whom he could tell anything. He really needs someone who he can trust, and Ron seems to be a great person for that.

Anyway. I've just wanted to say thank you for the fic. It's great and I can't wait for the next chapter to come out!

^_^ I'm just thrilled at the story itself. And anyway, detailed reviews are always better; 'ur story is great' can be applied to so many stories, that I try to avoid them as much as possible. Thanks again for the tale, and I can't wait to learn what will happen as the year progresses.
