I'm trying to find out how old the main characters are in Stargate. I can't find anything to indicate how old O'Neill and Carter are. With Daniel they come outright and say what year he was born in, and I think in one episode they mention that Teal'c is over 100.

Anyway, I've wasted way too much time trying to find the answer to this question so I think I'll just guess-estimate it.

BTW, Happpy New Years!

I believe Daniel said he was around four in 1969.

Just wandered here from your angst archive. Left a couple recs in your Dreambook. Also just read this one that's on theme: http://www.fan-archive.net/dlong/tao.htm

I'm not sure about Palinurus, but I think I have the others. Give me a minute...

I thought of another Stargate story that I would regard as extreme angst.

Elizabeth Lea "Waking Nightmare"
http://www.area52hkh.net/ase/elea/nightmare.php

Better stop there since half of all slash qualifies as angst in the Stargate fandom...

Pough's Fission of Silence - one of the greatest Stargate angst stories ever, IMHO - http://www.geocities.com/sazz27/poughs_page.html

Castalie's Breaking Point: Silence - http://www.thealphagate.com/stories/BreakingPointSilence.asp

Guess silence is a theme...

And I can't believe Palinurus is still online! The story I was thinking of was "Retaliation".

The Pough story is very long, but the other two are manageable! Have fun. And I'm glad I found your site - I'd never read the story by Legion.

Came back to see if you liked my recs, and a few more occured to me.
You might like some of Sazz's stuff (same site as Pough).

DawnC writes a lot of gen angst here: http://sg1angst.danawheels.net/
I really liked Suicidium and Reconstruction.

I liked this one by Yum@: http://www.stargatefan.com/fictionabc/chosen1.html

Good gen angst stories at The Tablet: http://www.omnifera.com/tablet/
I particularly liked Ellen Caldera's "Battlefields" and JB's "Hand in Hand"

There's another pretty good torture story that's just on the tip of my tongue. I'll come back if I think of it.

more really dreadful stuff

Found the other torture story! It's called Bargaining Chip:
http://helio2.sg1-heliopolis.com/archive/4/bargainingchip.html

Don't remember if it's good - just remember that a lot of torture was involved.

Yet another decent slave story: http://www.bunnyfic.com/Puffruffle/Slaves.htm

This isn't torture, but it hit my angst button:

Maayan's work is no longer available on the web. The Internet Archive was the only place I could find it.

Enjoy!
