okay this post is just to let everyone know I'm back home and everything is good.

I'd like thank everyone who responded to my "stuck in traffic" post. Normally, I'd try and respond to each post but I have 3 days of LJ backlog and am trying to catch up.

I'm about 3 days behind on reading my LJ and I don't think there is any real way to catch up, thank god for the SGA newsletter.

Anyway I'm going back to unpacking.

I'm in Houston, too. Was seriously worried there for a while, but we made it through. Glad you made it!

I was really worried too which is one of the reasons my husband I decided to leave. (and mostly because if the power went out...two or three days with no power and 100 degree temps...no fun) but I live on the west side just south of I-10 so our apartment didn't see any flood damage, I think our building lost a few shingles...anyway I hope your residence remained unscathed. :)

I didn't know anyone else who read slash fan fiction lived in houston. :)

Are you by any chance a Firefly fan???

I live on the west side also south of I-10. We were without power for nearly 24 hours, but we had decided not to leave because my roommate is a nurse and she wanted to be available to help if she could.

I am a new Firefly fan. I did not see the show first run. I am really excited about the movie and the the insider look on sci-fi tomorrow night.

I have only recently discovered slash as well. Some of it is actually too steamy for me. lol I know, how can slash be too steamy...

Did you by any chance plan on seeing Serenity Friday night??? Not sure what your feelings are about meeting people through the net but if you wanted company to go see Serenity...I always go the Tinseltown off Richmond and Beltway 8. Um it's okay if you don't feel comfortable seeing a movie with me, not sure if you already had plans, but just thought i'd throw out the offer because I haven't really met too many people since I've moved to Houston.

anyway, about the power. I couldn't tell how long it was off but it didn't seem that long because the ice in the freezer kind of half-melted and reformed...I think I would have been frustrated because depending on what day the power went out...with no internet I couldn't download Battlestar Galactica or Stargate Atlantis.

I probably won't be able to see Serenity until sometime next week, but thank you for the offer. Maybe we could meet sometime, though. I wish it was already out, I could have gone today since I'm still off from work. I usually go to the Edwards on I-10 because it's close to work or the AMC 30 off Westheimer/Dunvale.

I was so worried the electricity would go out before Sci-Fi Friday, but we made it until after midnight. We put as much food as we could in a cooler and I had to cook all the meat tonight because it had thawed out and I couldn't refreeze it.

I know where the AMC 30 is. :) I haven't gone to it yet because I live right across the street from the Tinseltown theater. I also wish Serenity was already out I'm really excited about seeing it, and it seems like my husband might be leaving for another two or three weeks before the movie comes out. :( I wanted to see it with him. right now i'm crossing my fingers and hoping he doesn't have to leave until Saturday or Sunday.

I'd love to meet sometime too. :) I'm not sure what your job schedule is but I'm normally free on weekends. I think I'm out of practice with meeting people all I can think of is movies. lol but I'm sure there is other fun stuff in Houston besides seeing movies.
