I don't get why more people aren't seeing this movie. I heard that there was a low turn out compared to what Universal expected and I don't get it. This was the best movie I've seen all summer, it has action, spaceships, great special effects. I don't get why so many people turned out for the crappy Star Wars episode 3 (no offense to those that enjoyed it) when the dialgue in the movie was stilted, boring, didn't really go anywhere and can I please forget I ever heard the word "Younglings" and yet Serenity isn't getting nearly as many people in the theater to watch it.

It just boggles my mind that so many people seem to be going to bad movies in large numbers but when a good one comes out not a lot of people go. Are people really so shallow that they need a big name actor/actress in the show to convince them to go and watch?

I've already seen the movie three times and I enjoyed it each time and I can't wait to see it again when my husband gets home.

edit: Why is it that Flightplan which has rather crappy ratings had more people go see it this weekend than Serenity? I'm confused. Sure I like Jodi Foster as much as the next person but the movie looked boring, I haven't heard one person say it's worth spending money on. I also can't believe I'm obessessing over boxoffice ticket sells.

I saw Serenity and I loved it! I really really loved it. I haven't been this entertained in the movies since Spiderman 2. :) there really aren't enough action space movies that have great characters and funny dialogue but at the same time provide social commentary. I'm going to have see this movie again. I missed some dialogue because everyone in the theater was laughing.

Anyway I'm not going to say much else because I don't want to provide spoilers and don't even want to tempt people by lj cutting.

For the next week I've switched my default icon to Firefly. :) Mostly to promote the new movie Serenity. I've heard a lot of good stuff about it but no spoilers, I think i've watched the trailers hundreds of times, and I'm going to see if I can find an advance screening for thursday night. :)

I'm so excited about this movie. :)

When you see this on your flist, quote Firefly:

I just finished watching season 1 of the new BSG and I have some serious love for this show and I'm glad I only have to wait a few hours to download the next episodes instead of four or five months to find out what happens next. I've stopped comparing the show to Firefly and that's a good thing because the shows are nothing alike. It's just hard not to compare everything to Firefly after watching it.

Honestly, after watching Firefly I had a much harder time enjoying Stargate, but then again Stargate was always my second love after Farscape and possibly Angel. But now that it's the only show still on the air it's moved up to my number 1 spot. Lost is 2nd and I think BSG is 3rd.

Smallville and Jack and Bobby are tied for fourth. (It mostly depended on which episode was better that week. Overall Jack and Bobby I think delievered the better story and Will Tippin from Alias was on the show, but Smallville has it's own charm and I love Lex.)

I'm going to do some more job searching then go exercise.

LJ icons

Okay yesterday I spent about 1 hour at the Browncoat website downloading LJ icons, since I'm using the free account I'm now trying to figure out which icons to use first. There are so many good ones. I really liked all the characters. But I think since I really liked Simon and Jayne the most I'll use their icons first or rotate a little. I was surprised at how few Wash icons I could find.

Anyway, I think it's kind of ironic that I'm getting all fangirly about this show and it's been canceled for two years. but hey I just discovered it so I think it's okay. :)

Wow I knew I'd be sad when I got the end and I was right. I just can't believe there aren't more episodes. Considering I only got to see 13 episodes I can't help but wonder why they canceled this show, this was powerful storytelling at it's best. I loved all the episodes (which is quite remarkable for me because I'm picky). Now I can't wait to see Serenity.

BTW...just realized this next weekend is going to be great. :) New episodes of Stargate, Battlestar Galactica, and the next Harry Potter book is coming out. I just hope they aren't sold out when I get to the bookstore. I'm debating on stopping by a bookstore tomorrow and to see if it's still possible to reserve a copy. I have a copy already reserved but that bookstore is in San Antonio, months ago when I made the reservation I was living in San Antonio and now i'm in Belton/Temple, Texas. I'm kind of crossing my fingers and hoping people don't read as much in this neck of the woods. I already let my husband know that once I get my hands on that book he'll not recieve a warm reception if he interrupts me while I'm reading.

OMG this series is so good! I mean this show has lesbian sex(not too graphic) but very much implied, torture, and some great dialogue, action, a priest who knows how to fire a gun! The action, the humor, the characters. I love Jayne! Knowing there are only 13 episodes makes me want to watch the few I have left more slowly to preserve them longer. It's like reading a really good book and realizing that you are nearing the end and there won't be any more after you finish.

I need to find out who to write to and let them know they fucked up when they canceled this series.
